Starter Jake has stretching attacks and an early coverage role; the evolved name should be treated as a separate kit decision. Evolution can change how a hero functions instead of simply increasing every familiar attack.

Keep an opening while adding a longer-term contribution

If Jake makes your opening dependable, preserve that contribution while preparing a new form. A squad should not lose the part that gets the defense started merely because a later evolution sounds more powerful. Decide which unit will cover that job if the evolved plan changes the way you use Jake.

Give Alien Jake a specific place in the longer defense: a new contribution should solve the weakness that stopped the last attempt. If the failure came before the squad could establish itself, the immediate priority remains the opening rather than another unfinished collection goal.

Develop the defense around the form

Traits, stat grades and hero growth are separate investments. Keep them attached to the hero you actually intend to deploy instead of treating the evolution name as a reason to spend every resource at once. A focused change makes the next attempt easier to evaluate.
